It is commonly understood that women are more likely to suffer from it but men will often experience depression as well. While there are different varieties of depression, each of a different level of severity, there are a few common depression symptoms in men that can give us some insight into whether or not someone is suffering. Indentifying these common depression symptoms in men can allow someone to receive help before it turns into a serious problem.
Since most men are less open about their emotions, many of the depression symptoms in men will be subtle and personal. It is often true that the only people who will notice some of these symptoms are those that are close to the man who is suffering. Fortunately, some of the more common symptoms are easier to notice. One of the most common symptoms is that a man will become increasingly introverted and withdrawn. This will often lead to them spending much more time alone and ignoring their friends or family. Many men suffering from depression will no longer do the things that used to bring them happiness, this can include hobbies, time with friends or even sex. Some men will also experience a noticeable change in their sleep schedule and may feel fatigued and irritable as a result.

Since they are more likely to suffer in silence than women, it’s important to be able to recognize some common depression symptoms in men. One of the most common symptoms is that a man suffering from depression will become withdrawn and will stop spending time with friends and family and will no longer have an interest in their favorite activities. It can be hard to convince a man to seek treatment for this problem but pointing out some of the symptoms of depression in men and how they relate to him can often help. Depression is a serious problem and it should not be taken lightly.
